We are looking for a self-driven talented Assistant Superintendent who has aspirations for advancement to perform the following:

Assistant Superintendent Responsabilities

  • Supervisor and coordinate installation of work in accordance with the contract documents, project schedule, and the planned sequence o work. Be aware of project milestone dates and the requirements to achieve them.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the Contract Documents and the scope of work for the specific area(s) or trade(s) assigned.
  • Develop an understanding of the duration of each activity.
  • Apply knowledge of equipment capability and develop plans for optimum utilization.
  • Know the scheduled delivery dates for all material and equipment that have a direct effect on the area(s) / trade(s) assigned.
  • Supervise field workforce to assure that all work is put in place in the most cost-effective manner. Know the budgets for work that is being supervised.
  • Determine causes and develop remedies when costs are not in line with budget, estimate, and/ or reasonable expectations.
  • Implement the safety program. Conduct regular, scheduled and unscheduled, safety inspections to assure all working conditions and work habits are in compliance with company and government standards. Take remedial action when required. Establish a procedure for hazard recognition at the beginning of every new activity. Be thoroughly knowledgeable of all the company’s safety standards, manuals, and procedure.
  • Maintain good working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related disincline.
  • 3 to 6 years of construction management experience in a field supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others including subcontractors and suppliers
  • Working knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpowered.
  • Well versed in safety and government regulations (e.g. OSHA) with success in implementation on a job site.

The Estimator provides and/or coordinates full estimating services on large, complex work and all types of contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-estimate meetings, analyze the request for proposals to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects.
  • Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids.
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
  • Assist the contracting department during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.
  • Track awarded contracts as required – may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit; procuring materials on major work items.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Qualifications

Must have the ability to prepare complex proposals with minimum of supervision. Must possess strong client relations, effective interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be detailed, highly organized and focused. Proficiency in computer applications is required. Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques, engineering disciplines, and sub-trade is required. Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus the ability to coordinate group work effort essential.

Education And Experience

  • 4 – year degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in estimating and 8 – 10 years in the construction industry is preferred.
  • On-Center, Quick bid software experience preferred.

The Project Engineer monitors activities at construction job sites. This includes working to ensure construction is progressing as scheduled and contract specifications are adhered to. This position reports directly to the Project Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects construction site daily and works with contractors to schedule deliveries.
  • Demonstrates understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field.
  • Interprets designs and drawings for crafts installing materials and qualifications.
  • Researches and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference, and errors.
  • Prepares field design change requisitions and “as-built” drawings, as required.
  • Prepares and disseminates all required documentation records such as status reports, punch lists describing work items to be done, sketches of work already completed, material requirement calculations, etc., to supervisor.
  • Verifies that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications.
  • Reviews and comments on the viability of design as required. Conducts value engineering functions.
  • Attends meetings with other contractors, clients, or A/E representatives to coordinate design and construction efforts.
  • Provides necessary building control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials or equipment.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline.
  • Observes construction work performed in the field.
  • Creates and processes RFI’s.
  • Participates in job walks and documents and reports findings.
  • Understands the company’s quality control plan and takes weekly photos to document any quality control issues.
  • Researches and proposes solutions to quality control issues.
  • Generates queries and reports in Prolog software.
  • Responsible for the review and maintenance of Quality Assurance/Quality Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Understands company safety program and participates in safety inspections.
  • Creates specification checklists.
  • Review submittals against specifications. Understands subcontractor job specifications and scope of work.
  • Reviews mock-up and/or shop drawings and specifications.
  • Possess the ability to attend meetings and transcribe detailed meeting minutes clearly, precisely and accurately.
  • Demonstrates schedule understanding in coordination with construction logistics and construction sequencing.
  • Understands PCO process and minimal ability in identifying PCO/change orders.
  • Performs quantity takeoffs.
  • Understands construction scheduling in coordination with construction logistics and sequencing.

The Project Manager manages the construction process on the project. This includes coordinating schedules, budgets, and resources and communicating directly with contractors, designers, and owners concerning project cost, staffing, and scheduling. This position reports to the Senior Project Manager, Project Executive, Operations Manager or other assigned supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interviewing, hiring, training and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors jobsite safety and take appropriate action to address and correct deficiencies.
  • Negotiates contracts with Client/Owner, maintains positive relationships and resolves disputes.
  • Maintains communication with Operations Manager.
  • Demonstrates complete understanding and awareness of the contract and the ability to estimate, recognize changes and take appropriate action.
  • Assists in preparing the progress payment and obtaining approval.
  • Develops cash flow projection with Project Controller and submits to Home Office and Owner (if required).
  • Approves Time and Material rates.
  • Corresponds with Client/Owner/Architect and Subcontractors.
  • Monitors Client/Owner required reports (prepared by Contracts Manager, Scheduler, Document Control).

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Construction
    Management or a related field is desired, a combination of education and work experience will also be
    considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience: Eight or more years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred. Work experience in
    all disciplines of construction (civil, structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing)
    preferred.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. On occasion, it may be necessary to lift and carry or manipulate items of up to 50 lbs., walk over uneven or unpaved ground to reach a worksite in construction zones. This position may be required to perform a variety of construction tasks in all areas and aspects of the construction project—including scaffold or platform work, confined spaces and exposure to outside elements. If your position requires you to enter the field it is mandatory that you wear approved Personal Protective Equipment. This position may be required to work schedules which may include shift work, such as; dayshift, swing-shift, graveyard, holiday and/or weekend shifts. This position may also require occasional travel as necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, use hands, operate a computer, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer and business equipment.

  • Provide on-the-job training opportunities for Assistant Superintendents and Project/Office Engineers. Encourage and/ or participates in staff training and development.
  • Develop a plan for the sequence of work. Develop project schedule. Plan and organize project work to assure all work is in place in accordance with contract document.
  • Have working knowledge of owner contract, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Know submittal schedule delivery dates for all critical path material and equipment.

  • Update project schedule monthly and in accordance with contract documents.
  • Control field costs for Clark and subcontract work. Supervise field workforce to assure all work is put in place in the most cost-efficient manager.

  • Experience with a large-scale commercial contractor or equivalent industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower, etc.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations (i.e., OSHA).
